Best Friends and the Good Luck Leaves (Paperback)

Erin and Ewere are best friends. Erin's family is from Ireland, while Ewere's family is from Nigeria. One day, Mrs. Grey informs her fourth-graders that they will be presenting on leaves from different parts of the world. Erin and Ewere know what would be their topic. Erin chooses to present on the Shamrock, a treasured leaf in Ireland that represents good luck. Ewere's leaf, also cherished for its symbolism of good luck, is the Ewere, and that was why her parents named her after the leaf.

Even though Erin and Ewere are from very different cultures, they find that they have a lot in common. As they each explore the background of the leaves they've chosen for research, Erin and Ewere learn that though their countries celebrate differently, both find reasons to celebrate luck and goodness.
